  1. Our cause is attainable.

PAC is an organization full of unique individuals dedicated to eradicating HIV/AIDS and the stigma surrounding it. 90% of pediatric HIV cases occur from mother to child transmission. This kind of transmission is highly preventable if the mother takes medication called antiretroviral therapy throughout her pregnancy. We are deeply connected to our cause and fight each day to be able to live to see an AIDS free generation by advocating for groups predominantly affected by HIV and working to raise money so that everyone has access to the proper treatment.

2. We are committed to diversity and inclusion.

PAC recognizes how intersectionality plays such a vital role in understanding and fighting for groups that are most vulnerable to transmitting HIV. The groups most predominantly impacted by HIV/AIDS include men who have sex with men, Black and Latino people, sex workers, and other groups historically targeted because of their race and/or sexual orientation. Our organization acknowledges that fighting for this cause means fighting for the groups impacted most and being active antiracists in that fight. We cannot talk about HIV without recognizing the role of intersectionality.

3. There’s a reason why we are the largest student-run nonprofit on the West Coast…

Dance Marathon is a UCLA tradition, and by joining PAC, you can be an integral part of that. During our last in-person Dance Marathon in 2019, we raised $330,000 for our beneficiaries. Not to mention, PAC is so much fun! We cannot stress this more. Many people decide to join PAC because they attend Dance Marathon, see the hard work that goes into it, and have the time of their lives. Everyone is so passionate about our cause, and putting on Dance Marathon could not be a better way to raise money while having an amazing time. The energy PAC brings is what lures so many students toward applying to PAC each year!

4. We have a committee for every talent.

Whether you’re a North campus or South campus major, we guarantee that your expertise would be an asset to PAC. A myth about PAC is that it’s only for pre-meds and that is not true in the slightest. We have a total of 16 committees for you to pick from! Our organization is made of art majors, political science majors, communications majors, dance majors, engineers and many others. Essentially, we could use any specific interest or talent you may have to further our organization. Are you artistic? Join Design. Interested in journalism? Join PR. Want to be a teacher? Join Family Committee. Great with money? Join Finance. Passionate about entertainment? Join Media. We could go on and on. PAC members come from all different majors and backgrounds and bring their individual interests and skills to our organization.

5. Join a family at UCLA while making the world a better place.

Our mission is to encourage unified support in the constant fight against pediatric AIDS through community education and action. Through fighting for this mission, we have developed life long friendships and bonds. Working alongside such passionate individuals to make the world a better place is what makes PAC a family here at UCLA. Our organization is a home away from home for so many UCLA students, and a way to discover a smaller community within a large school.
